The purpose of Ranked Assignments is to allow administrators to collect building preference information from patrons and then process the information in a Ranked Assignment batch to achieve the highest-ranking assignment possible for each patron.
In Odyssey HMS, administrators can set-up ranked-based Facility Preferences on an application. This functionality allows administrators to display a complete list of buildings defined for an application and require patrons to rank each building. In ResCenter, the Ranked Assignment batch process will then seek to assign patrons to their first, second, third, or fourth facility choice.
