Configure Rules for Independent Point Averaging

The Independent Point Averaging grid is used to determine how points are assigned when the target patron has taken the independent pledge as indicated in the patron’s Independent Pledge Attribute value. This grid is similar to the Meal-Plan Point Averaging grid—points are assigned based on group member’s class level. However, in the Independent Point Averaging grid, there are two possible point values for each group member depending on whether or not the member has also taken the independent pledge. According to the default rules created with a new lottery batch, members who have taken an independent pledge contribute more points to the total number of points.

Use the following procedures to add, edit, or delete a rule for Independent Point Averaging:

Add a Rule

1.  Click Independent Point Averaging to populate the grid with the independent student rules.

2.  Click Add.

3.  Select a class from the Class drop-down menu.

4.  Enter the amount of Meal Plan Points and Independent Points associated with the class.

5.  Click Save.

Edit a Rule

1.  Click Independent Point Averaging to populate the grid with the independent student rules.

2.  Click Edit next to the desired rule.

3.  Edit the class from the Class drop-down menu.

4.  Edit the amount of Meal Plan Points and Independent Points associated with the class.

5.  Click Update.

Delete a Rule

1.  Click Independent Point Averaging to populate the grid with the independent student rules.

2.  Click Delete next to the rule that you want to delete. A confirmation message is displayed.

3.  Click OK. The Lottery Rule successfully deleted message is displayed.
