Card Reader Settings

Card Reader Type

Use the Reader Type setting to select the type of card reader used to scan the card.

Note: Selecting a card reader is not necessary. A user can check in or out a patron by manually entering a patron’s media number or by scanning a patron’s GET My Card barcode with the device’s camera. If no card reader is attached, select None.

1.  Click Card Reader Type field to edit the Card Reader Type.

2.  Select the card reader from the list of card reader types.

3.  Tap Save.

Use the Swipe Terminator setting to configure the end of data message termination expression.

Note: The Swipe Terminator setting should only be edited in exceptional circumstances. Please contact CBORD Support for assistance with altering this setting.

2.  Tap the value field and use the keyboard to enter or edit a new value.

Note: The default value for Track 1 is %;([^?]*). the default value for Track 2 is ;([^?]*). Both of these values indicate that all data on the track will be sent to ResCenter.

4.  Tap Save. The main Settings screen will be displayed.

Minimum and Maximum Length

Use the Minimum Length and Maximum Length settings to define the valid media value lengths that can be accepted by the Odyssey Reader application. The application will reject data values that contain fewer digits than the Minimum Length value or more digits than the Maximum Length value. Setting Minimum Length and Maximum Length values can help prevent invalid card swipes from transmitting to ResCenter.

Note: To set no minimum or maximum media length, enter a 0 for the media length.

1.  Tap the Minimum Length field. The Minimum Media Length screen appears.

2.  Tap the number field. The device’s keyboard will display.
